Jonathan Parfrey'sLust for Peace |
Today is This is a continuation of our survey of the Rebuilder's Guide. Yesterday we surveyed the fourth goal, "Rebuilding Your Marriage." The last part of that chapter, "Meet Basic Needs," was marked out with a little note when I left the book at your house. That section includes "Special Steps in Selecting a Secretary," which warns against pitting Rio against a woman you work with. This chapter was written by fundamentalists for fundamentalists, most of whom tend to be the stereotypical 9-5 "Organization Man." Nobody would ever suspect Jonathan Parfrey of being unfeeling, or needing to learn the things in this chapter. And yet it appears to me that this is where your marriage broke down, but instead of your not being "sensitive" to your wife at home, perhaps you were not sensitive to your wife at work, involved in her career, or involving her in yours. I'm not saying I have all the answers, or that this book does. What I was trying to say with all the pages on Lust was that you will not win Rio back by promising her fun and good sex. The problem was with your secretary, not your "performance."
